Holiness! How many stars are in the sky?
One, two, three, those ones...millions up high
It seems for every man, a star ( woman two)
Alive, non-alive, unborn; the rich and the wretched too
That large one winking languidly at me is me
And those small ones huddled like a smoke are other men
That sulking yellow one to the left is my wife Sally
Oh gosh! what oh God makes her that surly?
Dear stars, how comes you so merry?
Though a cloud occludes and a rain so tarry?
Could be that you are pure of heart
And your friends are too cool to hurt
Come my pleasant one and please cuddle me
Salve my scars of this scabrous world so mean
Confide in my heart all you know of this earth
Without warning the man warming in the hearth
Uh-oh! my own star why so stubborn?
Make your dew preserve my bone
Till that due date of paying dues
That least lusted for of all rendezvouses
So long my love of unending smiles
I love you all the lifeless miles between us
a view of the world as seen from the eyes of an African and expressed through short stories, poetry, song and music!

Make merry, be happy
Grab a beer
Spread the cheer
Forget the tears
Drown your fears
Life is not last year
Not even next year
It’s every whiz of breath
Every beat of heart
Like death
That can’t be postponed
Delayed
Reversed
Repeated
So is life
Make merry, be happy

Introduction through Sex
Or what was it?
Dick, Dick, oh Dick
Please don’t do that
You had promised
Fanny, you don’t mean …
Please, no, please
Fanny, just let me
Dick, please do it fast
(That way I got to know
My neighbors next floor
Forgotten the inn’s name
Fanny and Dick, never)

A prayer to nobody
I just wish tomorrow could be different
Anything better, morbid, even devastating
Than these vapid, insipid, days of numbness
Of dud promise, pernicious, sheet of sameness
Anything but mourning pans for breakfast
Something but thoughts of halcyon past
That which can suffuse me with hopelessness
For hope has turned me a wretched mess
Every morn a prayer and a hope
That masks the soul that is hobbled
By years of scavenging for any job
That will make me human even a jot
Tomorrow I walk the streets again
Tomorrow I check the mails again
The standard regret: we are sorry but…
They all just hit their resend button
I just wish tomorrow could be different;
Than struggles that same way demur
Death has no more in store
Than these hardscrabble stories
Hunger pangs; do all you want
Death is all your worst
Which I live daily with no fear
More painful are tears of failure

Hee and Sh-ee
He said I want
She claimed I won't
He groped for it
She dropped for it
Silent rainbows
She said THANK YOU!
She claimed I won't
He groped for it
She dropped for it
Silent rainbows
She said THANK YOU!

I choose my death!
I missed the good life,
Not by a whisker
Never the good death,
Not even by a whit
A lazy meal of beef
A slew of laced beer
And no few puffs
I laze in my bed
Drizzling in the meadow
A bird sings her sizzle
To a rainbow in the mount
And home descends my sun
Bringing my staff
As my son is wont
He sees my state-
Ahaa dad is gone!
A lasting smile
Palms saying bye
Eyes shut in bliss
I chose a good death!

Of a lady in England
Of a lady in England
Oh Victoria Pryce!
What a price to pay
As land a victory
As be her victor?
For money and love
World around moves
Aint have the former
Lots of the latter
Better it were both
Was me an alchemist
To change my chemistry
Into a mystery mission
To her home in Midlands
Being not, oh misery!
Oh unwise foolish love
You wild brute force
Why a too married lady
With kids too
Be your loyal object?
